My Musical Journey

A toy spinning top that played 'Singing In The Rain' as it rotated is my first musical memory, and it was from here, just a few months after being born, that my musical adventure began.

From that spinning top I progressed to sitting by my older brother as he practiced the piano. Using one finger, I would try to follow and imitate his playing. The piano led to the viola and for a number of years I learnt to play classical music.

What took my musical journey to the next level was one band and one instrument, Led Zeppelin and the drums. It was from this base camp that I set out on an enjoyable exploration of the musical landscape, whether that was rock, folk, blues, jazz, and music from around the world.

All of these musical elements came together in the sounds of the band Sand River - Sand River .

A group of two - guitar&vocals and drums - that explored many influences whilst never sounding like the White Stripes.

When we went our separate ways, I decided to step out alone and move onto the next leg of this musical journey. Picking up the guitar and learning to sing, I stepped out from behind kit and stepped up to the front of the stage. The music on the Riding the River Road Back Home EP, is the culmination of this exploration and also the start of a new stage.

When I am not performing alone, I can be found back behind the drum kit playing for Nick Tann - Nick Tann.
